Responsibilities

Interventions

  • Welcome participants in a professional and reassuring manner
  • Intervene with participants who show difficulties in adaptation, behavior, and/or special needs
  • Intervene in crisis situations, conflicts, and bullying
  • Develop tools to ensure improvement in participants’ behavior or to maintain their progress
  • Animate groups with at-risk children to support the counsellors in their work and in choosing the interventions to be made / Act as a resource person for the staff
  • Document and take note of incidents that require special interventions with participants
  • Ensure follow-up with parents regarding the actions taken with their child, in consultation with the management team

First aid

  • Collect medication at the beginning of the week
  • Keep and administer camper medication
  • Intervene in emergency situations and administer first aid
  • Ensure communication and follow-up with parents and management team
  • Keep all necessary operational forms up to date
  • Oversee the inventory of the infirmary and the contents of the first aid kits in circulation.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle habits among participants and staff

Requirements

  • Hold experience with children (animation, intervention)
  • Be a student or graduate of a related program (special education, psycho-education, teaching, etc.)
  • Be creative, reliable, patient, and able to easily adapt to different types of situations.
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Hold a certification in first aid and CPR, issued by an organization recognized by the Quebec Association of Camps, or be available to participate in training to obtain it.
  • Have no criminal record related to the job
