With over half a million children and adults welcomed to date, our reach is both national and international, notably through our Val-Morin nature center and our five satellite sites. Every day, we strive to create an environment that fosters unforgettable memories and genuine connections, allowing all our visitors to grow and thrive to their fullest potential.
A summer full of adventures and discoveries
Every summer, dozens of activities are offered as part of our summer camp and day camp programs. Our young participants, guided by passionate counsellors, thrive in a safe environment, while developing new skills, forming new friendships, and gaining autonomy and self-confidence. By joining one of our camps, they also become part of a close-knit and supportive community that has been growing for generations.

Four seasons of activities
Beyond summer camps, we welcome national and international school groups throughout the year who come to enjoy our exceptional facilities. They participate in educational activities, traditional camps, and explore the tourist and cultural riches of the region. Additionally, our “Sortie 76” program offers corporate groups and organizations the opportunity to use our services and infrastructure for their events and activities.
A rich heritage and a forward-thinking vision
Our history is built on a rich legacy, with its foundations laid by our founder, Yvan Dubois, a pioneer in the field of sports in Quebec and internationally. Two generations of successors have since carried on this mission, enriching the experience offered to our clientele year after year. A true reference in the industry, Edphy is recognized as one of the most respected players, thanks to our innovative approach, proven expertise, and the trust of Quebecois and international families. Our strong partnerships with schools, foundations, and organizations that share our vision of excellence are also at the heart of our success.

In Quebec, interest in sports is limited to hockey, baseball, and football. Yvan Dubois, who is no exception, plays for the Milwaukee Braves.

He leaves professional sports and takes on various management roles in recreation. He enrolls at the School of Hygiene at the University of Montreal in a brand-new program: physical and recreational education. He quickly notices the concerning lack of physical education in the school curriculum, especially at the elementary level.

At the request of Father Sablon, he presides over the Canadian Association of Recreation Centers, which leads him on a journey to 22 countries to identify the actions and interventions being carried out in the fields of sports and recreation.

He visits Schroon Manor, which offers a very diverse sports and outdoor program. This sparks a thought in him that has never left: Could such a site exist in Quebec?

It was at the World Recreation Congress in Osaka that he decided to found Edphy, which would become Quebec’s first entirely private outdoor center.
Why EDPHY?
- The name “Edphy” is a shortened form of “éducation physique” (physical education)
- The Greek signature symbolizes the origin of Olympism in ancient Greece
- The original logo took the shape of a teepee

Yvan Dubois acquires a large plot of land in Val-Morin.

In the spring, the first group is welcomed to the Edphy camp, followed by the first summer camp season.

The increase in Quebec clientele is significant, and there is growing interest from Americans and people from other countries in Edphy. Optional language courses, designed to cater to this new anglophone clientele, are added to the program. Over the next few decades, several major projects follow, particularly in terms of infrastructure development.

Luc Dubois, the son of Yvan Dubois, himself a top athlete who participated in the Canadian Athletics Championships, becomes the owner and continues the growth of Edphy.

The Edphy day camps are launched, allowing for greater visibility of the institution and its mission.

An Edphy camp offering full English immersion is held in Orlando for a few seasons.

Mr. Dubois hands over the organization to a team of successors, including Marilyse Richard-Robert, the current president, who have been involved for about ten years.

Edphy celebrates their 50th anniversary.

The new owners of Edphy have once again acquired the Val-Morin site and have developed a master plan for the development and upgrading of the facilities and spaces. Major investments are being made, particularly in the area of outdoor landscaping.

The Government of Quebec has announced the cancellation of overnight camp activities across the province for the summer season due to the pandemic. However, day camps are still operating.

The doors of the summer camp are opening once again, and although this season is different, it is already a great success.

An exceptional new season is amongst us, marking our 60th anniversary. Will you be joining us?

Committed to young people for over 20 years and now the mother of two children, Marilyse has held the position of executive director since 2014. Involved in all spheres of the organization, marketing, human resources, and operations, she puts to use her entrepreneurial qualities to put together, alongside her team, her vision and her ideas and thus to allow as many young people as possible to benefit from the Edphy experience, which has also earned her the nomination of Young entrepreneur of the year in 2018 by the CCITB.
A former teacher in disadvantaged and multicultural environments for several years, she has always placed particular importance on the education and training of tomorrow’s citizens, whether through the experience of children, their families, or the counsellors. Actively involved in her community, whether through Edphy’s activities, those of the Edphy Foundation, or as a board member with organizations such as Au coin de MA rue, a community-based pediatric social center in RDN, she contributes to the creation of environments that promote the health and development of children.
Currently a member of the board of directors of the Association des camps du Québec, Marilyse leverages her experience and expertise to enrich the associative life, following in the footsteps of the organization’s founder, Mr. Yvan Dubois. Sensitive to the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, she is also involved in the Femmes en affaires committee of her region’s chamber of commerce, demonstrating engaged and versatile leadership.
