Extreme heat and camps

TVA visited Camp Edphy International at Edourard-Montpetit yesterday to learn about safety measures taken in cases of extreme heat; a hot topic with the week we have had!

You missed the airing? Here is a brief summary of what was mentioned by our director general:

  • All camp Edphy’s animators have a first aid certification. They therefore have acquired all the necessary tools to identify heat strokes and all other diseases related to heat (headaches, dizziness or fainting, nausea, extreme thirst, drowsiness, etc).
  • The coordinators and their team make sure to remind animators about the necessary precautions they must take on very hot days (hydration, limited sun exposure, refreshment) and the adaptation of activities (shorter periods outdoors and as many indoor activities as possible, longer swimming periods when facilities permit, etc).

Do not hesitate to contact us if you require any additional information!
