That’s it! You have made the decision to send your child to a camp this summer? You will quickly see that there are all sorts of camps and for all tastes.
Here are 4 steps to follow to find the one that will best suit your entire family!
Establish your needs and priorities
Above all, select a few logistical elements that will guide you throughout your research.
- Type of experience. Do you want to send your child to a summer camp or day camp? In what kind of environment do you want to see them enjoy their vacation – in nature or in the city? Do you prefer seeing them practice their favorite activities or discover new ones?
- Length and dates. How long do you wish to send your child to camp? When? Some camps are not offered throughout the entire summer holiday.
- Location. Do you prefer a camp close to home or work? Would you like to send them to a camp that is perhaps further from home? Do you plan on driving your child to camp, using public transportation or carpooling?
- Budget. How much do you plan on spending for each stay? Prices may vary depending on the camp, the stay or the program chosen. Also, certain organisations offer a discount for the second child of the family. Get informed!
Talk to your child
Your child is the one who knows best what they like. It is therefore important to involve them in the selection of the camp to make sure you are in the right direction of what may interest them. Knowing that they are happy and enthusiastic, will also make it easier to leave them there and to have peace of mind during their absence.
Do your research
After having browsed different camp websites – through a search engine or via the Quebec Association of Camps website – and having selected the most interesting for your family, take the time to do a more advanced search.
- Among the chosen camps, browse deeper on each of their websites. Look at the pictures and videos to give you an idea of a typical day.
- Discuss with other parents, friends or colleagues to hear their opinions and references. Consult the testimonials if necessary.
- Contact management by phone or go to an Open House to meet the team, visit the site and ask questions.
Reserve your spot
It’s decided? Book a spot as soon as possible. Most camps begin their registration period in February, but some, like us, like to get ahead of the game and offer to book your stay in December. Edphy also offers you to book your spot and enjoy the best price, while giving you the opportunity to modify your choices, by moving certain stays or by adding weeks, free of charge, until May 1st. So there’s nothing stopping you from contacting us right now!
