Enrolling your child in a camp experience is a wonderful gift: days filled with activities, friendships, and discoveries! But at 4 years old, is it too early for this experience? Of course not!
Every child adapts at their own pace: some dive into the adventure with enthusiasm, while others take a little more time. Fortunately, camps are well-prepared to welcome all children and provide them with a safe and stimulating environment.
A welcome adapted for the youngest
Since the introduction of 4-year-old preschool classes in several regions of Quebec, many camps now welcome these young campers. To facilitate their integration, camps adjust schedules, activities, and routines accordingly.
Upon arrival, a significant adult – often their camp leader – warmly greets the child, especially during the first few days. Once they feel comfortable, they join their group, surrounded by other little ones.
Building bonds from day one
Once the camp begins, the camp leaders make sure each child quickly finds their bearings. The first moments are often marked by icebreaker games that help the children bond with one another. At 4 years old, they already have great social skills: they integrate, share, and form friendships.
Play, move, and learn
At this age, everything is a source of fun: jumping into the pool, observing the rabbits at the mini farm, trying an obstacle course, or going on a treasure hunt! Activities are tailored to their development and motor skills, and the camp leaders enjoy accompanying them as much as the children enjoy the activities. It’s no surprise that a little nap in the car is often unavoidable after such a busy day!
A smooth transition
In the spring, most camps hold an open house day. It’s a great opportunity to meet the team, tour the facilities, and better understand the camp’s organization and operations. If this isn’t the case, it’s often possible to schedule a visit a few days before the start of the camp session. It’s a great way to reassure both children and parents!
At Edphy, we know how to welcome them properly!
For several years, we’ve had the pleasure of accompanying 3- and 4-year-olds on their first camp experience. Our teams are trained to provide them with supportive supervision and a summer full of both small and big moments. There are still a few spots left for this summer: don’t miss out on this opportunity!
